"You hear laughter breaking through, it makes you want to fart. You’re heading for a breakdown, better pull yourself apart. " - John Cooper Clarke

>That second interview.

>After having typed up an invitation letter that only made sense to me, I then told the HR woman that I spell organise with an ‘s’, not a ‘z’, so that will appear as a typo as well as the fact that ASEAN should be entirely in block capitals, not just the ‘A’, I went on to dig even further.

My face must have looked blurred and my eyes glazed over as I was asked questions about how I thought I would work at the organisation, and what functions would I perform. Apart from re-read the job specs back to them I tried to expand a bit while I may just as well have asked for a bigger shovel.

Back to the drawing board, I think.

You justified yourself, kept thinking, didn’t just act like an automaton and managed despite the pressure. Successful or not, you did well. Nice one :)

these interviewers would be out of work without people like you. Perhaps, you should mention that to them.

But they haven’t turned you down, have they? You just haven’t heard from them as yet, so you’re fretting, right?

They just like yanking your leash a little bit. It makes them feel like they’ve justified their existence. It’s all part of the games we have to play…

Don’t give up yet. Son went for interview, which included role play and all sorts of nonsense, followed by the proper interview. He said he had made an absolute bog of the formal part. Phoned and offered the job on Monday.

Organise is spelt with a ‘s’; unless you use American English.

Anon, I know. I wasn’t clear – the invitation letter was part of the interview, a test for typos etc. The laptop I was given used American English therefore I had to explain to the HR woman that it was not a typo.

It’s only over when the fat lady sings and it’s most unlikely Susan Boyle is going to turn up in Belgium.
Keep your chin up, something will happen.

If you still haven’t had a rejection by phone, email or snailmail then don’t give up yet!
You may feel you didn’t do yourself justice but what makes you think the other candiddates did nay better?
