Todd came home last night with a friend as they both have to visit the Scout Camp where they will be cooking over Easter. Todd was also very proud to show off his new piercing in his ear. I’m not sure what you call that particular part of the ear, but he now has a stud on the bit of cartilage that covers the entrance to your ear. It looks daft, is covered by his hair and the Twat referred to Todd as looking as if he’s banged a nail into his head. He’s not far off. I simply told the boy not to show his father which should be fairly easy as he and PHT are off to Costa Rica for two weeks tomorrow.

If I still don’t have a job by 11 April I shall be going to stay with a friend in Switzerland for 3 days which should make a nice break. Coralie is soaking up the sun in Tenerife where it is already 30°C. She has now switched from the reception to organising the animation that the Brits so enjoy. Yesterday it was Bingo which she did in both Spanish and English. Tatiana is off to Paris today to organise a school outing and to check on the Youth Hostel etc. She’s a bit pissed off as half of her class are Muslims and the girls aren’t allowed to go without their fathers, or something, so Tatiana and the others have to do all their work for them. It makes you wonder why they are studying tourism in the first place – unless they can work at a reception in a hotel, but you don’t need a degree to do that. Oh well, I’m all for further education.

It’s time to take down the decorations which involve the removal of 3 candles, although, knowing me, they’ll stay there all year unless the de-cluttering bug gets the better of me. The Twat is no longer wallowing in Deep Heat and my hands no longer stink of the stuff. The poor man was in so much pain that he couldn’t take his inhalers for his asthma properly, but he seems to be well on the mend.

The new year was spent eating and watching TV until some silly time in the morning, the children were out and at midnight we did a tour of the block to see the fireworks going off in people’s gardens. Only we were a bit late and missed them all.

The girls start their exams this week and Todd goes back to boarding school. Before I know it, it will be 23 January, the day Coralie goes for her stage, working in a hotel in Tenerife for 4 months, the lucky girl. I hope that her boyfriend gets to visit her and they use the chance to visit Morocco, because if he doesn’t, I may very well empty my money box and get there myself.

As for me, I’ll be job-hunting. It kills time, if nothing else.

I wonder at the stupidity of people sometimes. If I really wanted to buy a book that was out of print I would contact the author (presuming that said author has a web site of some sort – most do these days, if not all), and ask if it was possible to buy a book directly from the author. I have almost 300 copies of my book in England, and about 3 here which I will sign and post to anybody who would like one – at quite a lower price than that going on Amazon.

It is too late for this Christmas, unless bought for a birthday early next year – or whenever – I don’t care. But I know that a signed book is worth more than one that is not.

Ho hum.

I think Firefox is trying to trick us into believing that we will, after all, get a white christmas as snow is forecast for Thursday. I prefer to remain sceptical about that and enjoy the snow that we presently have, especially as I have to go into town tomorrow to find 2 more small presents. The earlier I am into town the better. The christmas ‘food’ shopping has been bought and as often, we will be having a raclette by request of the children. That will last until the new year at least as no doubt the girls will be visiting their boyfriends and Todd will be visiting his girlfriend. Or simply friends.

It’s time to turn on those christmas carols.
